Travel Forecasting Resource Website

The Travel Forecasting Resource (TF Resource) is a collaborative effort to collect travel forecasting resources and to augment those resources with the experience and practical understanding of the travel forecasting community.  Although the site is new, there is already a significant amount of useful information on the site addressing all aspects of forecasting including model development, model application, “big picture” overviews, data, etc.  The site can be found here.

Long Term Trends and Issues

This past summer, the TRB Technical Activities Council (TAC) and the TRB State Representatives held group discussions to help identify the long term trends and potential issues that may affect, or be affected by, transportation, and what these might mean for the future of TRB and other transportation organizations. The high-level discussion was part of an ongoing dialogue to lay the foundation for eventual updates to the TRB “Critical Issues in Transportation,” and the TRB Strategic Plan. These lists are attached for our committee’s use in helping to set priorities for future research and sessions, and to identify topics to be included in the TRB Research Needs Statements database. The lists represent the initial brainstorming of issues and trends. No attempt has been made yet to further define the issues or to establish any priority order.  These documents may guide committee and subcommittee discussions.
